Mission Assignment

April 14, 2008 / by cwilson

Every man and woman can choose there own mission or assignment in life. This became apparent to me when I finally made the decision to come to Chico. High school was a breeze; I partied hard and rarely went to class. I thought college would be the exact same but learned after the first year of going to jail and being hung-over two days after the fact was not the person I wanted to be. This was not the mission I was sent here for.

In life one might think that they have only one mission , or many. I for one felt that I was put here to do good and always continue to seek new ways to better myself and those around me. I often sit and contemplate what I really will become, what my assignment in life will be. Am I suppose to be successful and famous, am I suppose to just take on some mediocre job and live my life out with no great thrills?
Jasmine faces a similar choice about how she will form herself and will she let other create her identity or will she create her own. She gets her fortune told to her and is told that she would be in exile and a widow. Obviously this is not the identity Jasmine wants to create. God has an impact on everyone I believe. Some that are not even religious must wonder if god has set an assignment in life for them, their specific mission. “Treat every second of your existence as a possible assignment from God. Everything you do, if you’re a physicist or a caregiver, is equally important in the eye of God”

Jasmine wonders what her fathers assignment was in life, was he suppose to die the way he did, was she suppose to com/e to America, get raped? Is this part of her mission something predetermined for her

"The lord gives us a body, an assignment, and sends us down, once it's done he calls us home for the next assignment " This was said by a friend of Jasmine's father. It is obvious that Jasmine agrees with his thinking and motto of sort. A perfect example is when her boyfriend does not die from the bullet wound, if they had marred the fortune teller would have been correct and her identity would then be predetermined as the fortune teller told her.
